Why are you doing this?
While there is a considerable amount of information about existing covered
bridges, details about those that are no longer in existence is more difficult
to find. The purpose of this project is to compile a listing of all known
covered bridges in the United States and Canada.
How can I help?
If you would like to provide information on covered bridges that no longer exist
from your state, or adopt a state to work on, we would certainly welcome your
assistance. We have designed a form that will assist you in your research and
also indicate the type of information we would like to record on each bridge.
Please contact Trish Kane for more
information.
Where do you find this information?
There are numerous places where this information can be found. Books, libraries,
historical societies, town & city archives, postcards, and the list goes on.
How are you identifying the bridges?
The numbering convention used for this project is a modified format of the one
used by the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges (NSPCB).
For full details see the Bridge Numbering page.
