Comments:
Throughout the summer of 1899 there was debate in the papers about whether the old apportionment for the bridge costs between Moretown and Middlesex (2/5 versus 3/5) would be maintained when the old covered bridge was replaced later that year. An even split of costs was decided finally and by September the papers reported the work underway and traffic being rerouted.
