Comments:
An extension to the portal and storm doors on the north side prevented wind-driven rain from getting to the ends of the truss. At one time there was also a swinging gate in the middle of the span. There is a story that Mrs. John Conant gave it to her husband as a Christmas gift. The bridge collapsed during a rain storm on July 25, 1949. After the bridge collapsed, Brandon firemen completed the destruction to remove the obstruction from Otter Creek. At least one of the abutments was made of marble.
