Comments:
In 1964, the Illinois State Legislature determined that the state highway department would become responsible for maintenance of nine of the state's covered bridges, including this one. In 1967, a dump truck damaged a number of roof braces and three horizontal tension rods. The Highway Department obtained 60-year old white pine from Sinissippi Forest at Oregon, Illinois, had it sawed and replaced the damaged beams. The bridge was reopened in three days. 10-panel truss.
