Comments:
The East Tandem was begun in 1814 and finished in 1818. Built by Theodore Burr, it was also a humpback Burr Truss of four or five spans with a length of 976'6". The first bridge was destroyed by a hurricane in 1846. The second bridge was built within the same year, but was destroyed by the flood of March 17, 1875. This was changed to a level roadway when rebuilt the same year. Then it was severely weakend during the Flood of March 9, 1904, which had destroyed the other bridge. Rather than repairing it, it was replaced, also with wrought iron spans. The coordinates given are at the center of the present bridge.
