Comments:
Closed. This structure is the last remaining historic covered wooden bridge in the state of Wisconsin. In 1850, Michael Hickey was paid $38.00 to build a bridge near his residence which was severely damaged in the spring flooding of 1876. The planking and timber for the replacement bridge was white pine obtained from a mill near Baraboo, Wisconsin, which cut and squared all lumber. A center support was added in 1927. The bridge came under the jurisdiction of the county highway department in the 1940's, and was officially retired from service in 1962.
