Comments:
10-panel truss. This bridge was listed as 14-53-01 in the 1959 World Guide, on George Gould's 1977 list, and Richard Donovan's World Guide notebooks. It was listed as 14-53-02 in later Guides. Iron rods were added after 1879 inspections noted that the bridge bolts were loosening. The bridge was destroyed by arson on June 29, 1976. According to police reports, two young men poured gas on the floor and set it on fire. They were arrested and convicted. In 2019, the Cedar Ford Bridge from Shelby County was reconstructed about 200 feet east of this location as a replacement.
